Description

Machine Overview

The duct corner code installation machine presses stamped corner codes into the corners of rectangular duct sections and seats them, so each length or fitting leaves the bench square and ready for flanging. It is built for automatic corner code assembly for rectangular ducts and works downstream of corner code stamping: codes arrive from a production line or from stock, the operator sets the section against the working head, and the press drives the code into the corner profile in one controlled stroke.

This is a bench machine rather than a hand tool. Instead of a fabricator tapping codes home with a mallet — the slowest, most tiring and least consistent step in rectangular duct assembly — the code is seated by a foot-operated press that repeats the same stroke corner after corner.

The corner code press stands on a floor frame with the working head at one end, a guide chute that keeps the code square to the ram, and a separate control cabinet. The whole unit sits on casters, so it can follow the work along a bench or move to a second bay when the schedule changes.

Operation is deliberately simple. A new operator learns the cycle in a short session — align the corner, press, release, turn the section — and there is no program to load when the duct size changes, which is what makes the machine practical in a shop running mixed sizes and short runs.

Key Features

  • Gas-liquid pressing force — workshop air drives a hydraulic intensifier, so the ram closes with a smooth build-up of force rather than an impact. Codes are pressed squarely into the corner, and the sheet around them is less likely to be marked or distorted than during hand insertion.
  • Foot pedal control — both hands stay on the duct section to hold the corner square, and the press closes only while the pedal is held down. That is what makes the cycle quick enough to keep pace with a bench.
  • Guide chute for the corner code — the chute holds the code in line with the ram before pressure is applied, so it starts square and nobody has to hold it during the stroke.
  • Working range to the rated plate thickness — corner codes formed from sheet within the machine's rating are in range; send us your heaviest corner and we will check it against the specification before you commit.
  • Repeatable seating — the machine gives the same stroke on the first corner of a shift and on the last, so sections assembled by different operators match when they reach flanging.
  • Controls kept clear of the work — the control cabinet carries the pressure setting and the electrical controls away from the chute, leaving the working area free for the duct section.

Operating Sequence

  1. Match the code to the corner — the code profile has to match the duct corner exactly, so check the two against each other and clear any burrs from the stamped edges before the first press.
  2. Position the machine — roll it to the rectangular duct assembly bench on level floor, leaving room behind the frame to turn a duct section between corners, then connect the air line and the power supply.
  3. Set the working pressure — adjust at the control cabinet to suit the code and sheet gauge you are running, press one trial corner, and check the seating before starting the run.
  4. Load the section — set the duct corner square against the working area with the code started in the guide chute, and hold the section steady with both hands.
  5. Press and release — press the foot pedal and let the ram seat the code, then release and lift the section clear. Keep hands away from the closing area while the pedal is down.
  6. Check and repeat — confirm the code sits flush and the corner is square, turn the section, and work through all four corners before moving to the next length.

Typical Applications

  • Rectangular duct assembly benches — the natural home for a duct corner code installation machine: sections arrive folded and notched, codes are seated at the bench, and the section goes on to flanging already square.
  • Shops that stamp their own corner codes — codes come off the corner code production line and go into ducts a few steps away, which keeps forming and assembly in one flow instead of two separate areas.
  • Shops buying corner codes ready-made — boxes of codes still have to be seated, and the press takes the mallet out of the job and gives every box the same result regardless of who is on the bench.
  • Mixed sizes and short runs — straight lengths, elbows, tees and reducers follow each other through rectangular duct assembly without a new setup for every size.
  • New operators and busy shifts — a pedal-driven cycle gives a trainee a repeatable result from the first day, which matters in shops where corner codes used to be a skilled hand job.

Air Supply & Machine Care

The press runs on workshop air, and the air line is where most seating problems start. Keep the supply dry and filtered — moisture and oil carry-through reach the intensifier and make the stroke sluggish — and fit a regulator and water trap close to the machine. Set the regulator within the working range given in the specifications, and watch the gauge while the ram works: pressure that drops on every stroke will show up as uneven corner seating.

Between shifts, wipe the guide chute and the working area clear of chips and offcuts. A chip sitting under a code is the usual reason a corner seats unevenly, and offcuts around the pedal are the usual reason a press fires when it should not. Check the air hose and fittings for chafe, and keep the foot pedal clear of anything that could fall on it.

Because the corner code press runs on casters, it will only stay where you put it on a level floor: push it by the frame rather than the control cabinet, and keep the run between benches clear. Have the gas-liquid intensifier and the hydraulic side checked by a technician at intervals, and agree the service interval with our team when the machine is commissioned. Isolate the air supply and switch off the cabinet before any work on the chute or ram, and whenever the machine stands idle for a long period.

Ordering & Delivery

  1. Start with what you run — as an HVAC duct corner inserting machine manufacturer, we check the sheet gauges, corner code family and duct sizes on your bench against the machine's working range before the order is confirmed.
  2. Confirm the services at the machine — the workshop air pressure you can hold at that point, and the power supply and plug type you will connect to — so nothing is missing on the day it arrives.
  3. Check the floor and the access — a level floor for the casters, room to turn duct sections at the bench, and a delivery route that suits the size of the machine.
  4. Agree packing, shipping terms, documentation and current lead time with your sales contact; these are confirmed per destination on the quotation.
  5. Plan commissioning and training — decide who will run the machine and who will look after the air side, and ask what support is available for your country.
  6. Sign off the final configuration — appearance, configuration and technical parameters are for reference, and the final specification is agreed with you before the machine goes into production.

Placement & Mobility

  • No foundation or anchor bolts — the working head, gas-liquid intensifier and control cabinet sit on one welded floor frame carried on casters. The corner code press is set down and levelled where you want it, not bolted to a plinth or grouted into the slab, so no civils work is needed before it can run.
  • The route carries 800 kg — the casters put the full machine weight through a small contact patch, so check the slab, any ramp or lift, and the door and corridor widths against the machine's footprint before the move rather than after it.
  • Lock the casters before pressing — braked wheels hold the frame steady at the bench while the ram closes; a machine that creeps under the stroke will throw the code out of line with the corner.
  • Services set the working radius — the machine can only travel as far as its air line and power cable reach. Fit a hose and cable long enough for the layout you want, route both clear of gangways and truck traffic, and coil them up when the machine is parked.
  • One press, two benches — because there is no fixed base, a single duct corner code installation machine can cover a folding bay and an assembly bay on the same shift: seat corners where the sections are being closed, then roll it across to the second bench for the next batch.
  • Re-commission after a move — set the frame level, lock the casters, confirm the gauge holds working pressure and press a trial corner on scrap before the machine goes back into production.
  • Keep a clear corridor — hold a straight path between benches free of offcuts, coil stock and pallets, so repositioning the machine stays a one-person job instead of a two-person shove.

FAQ

Q1. Which corner codes will the machine accept?

The machine seats the corner brackets used at the corners of rectangular duct. Code profiles differ between duct systems, so the code you buy has to match the corner it is going into — send a sample or a drawing with your enquiry and our team will confirm whether the profile suits the machine before you commit.

Q2. What sheet thickness can it handle?

It handles the usual light and mid-gauge galvanised sheet used on a rectangular duct bench — the rated plate thickness is listed in the specifications above, and corner codes formed from sheet within it go straight through the cycle. If your heaviest corner runs heavier than that, tell us before ordering — as an HVAC duct corner inserting machine manufacturer we would rather advise on the right machine than leave you covering only part of your range.

Q3. Can one operator keep a bench running with it?

Yes. The pedal leaves both hands free to hold the section square, the chute keeps the code aligned, and there is no program to load between sizes. One operator can work through all four corners of a section and move straight on to the next one.

Q4. How much floor space does it need?

The corner code press is a floor-standing machine on casters rather than a bench-mounted unit, so plan for a clear working area in front of the head and space behind the frame to swing a duct section round between corners. Check the overall dimensions in the specifications against your bench layout, and remember the route into the shop as well as the footprint itself.

Q5. Is this the same machine as a corner code production line?

No. A corner code production line stamps codes from coil; the duct corner code installation machine seats those finished codes into the duct corners. They work as a pair — one sets the pace of code output, the other the pace of assembly — and each can be bought on its own.

Q6. Can it handle elbows and tees, not just straight lengths?

Yes — the machine is set up for automatic corner code assembly for rectangular ducts, so straight lengths, elbows, tees and reducers that share the same corner code family all go through the same cycle. Send us your fitting range and code profile and we will confirm before the order.
